To begin, let's understand that Sacred Geometry literally means "earth measure" essentially...thus it correlates to the sacred measurements and proportions of the Earth itself and all the relationships within and without her. All through the ages, all over the planet, Sacred Geometry has been taught as a special understanding about the process of Creation. However, as with many powerful spiritual teachings, this information was often kept occult (hidden), passing from initiate to initiate within secret societies. Sacred Geometry involves sacred universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality, most often seen in sacred architecture and sacred art. Sacred Geometry is the belief that fundamental properties of the universe can be quantified into simple shapes and patterns. The basic understanding is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, cosmology. This value system is seen as widespread even in prehistory, a cultural universal of the human condition.
It is considered foundational to building sacred structures such as temples, mosques, megaliths, monuments and churches; sacred spaces such as altars, temenoi and tabernacles; meeting places such as sacred groves, village greens and holy wells and the creation of religious art, iconography and using "divine" proportions. Alternatively, sacred geometry based arts may be ephemeral, such as visualization, sand painting and medicine wheels. Sacred Geometry may be understood as a worldview of pattern recognition, a complex system of religious symbols and structures involving space, time and form. According to this view the basic patterns of existence are perceived as sacred. By connecting with these, a believer contemplates the Great Mysteries, and the Great Design. By studying the nature of these patterns, forms and relationships and their connections, insight may be gained into the mysteries - the laws and lore of the Universe. Geometry is frozen music, thus the same principles applied within sacred geometry is precisely those that make up the ebb and flow of music itself.
Goethe is reputed to have said, “Geometry is frozen music.” When time is included in the picture, as in Cycles, then we have music which becomes a geometrical collection of frequencies or Vibrations -- all of which can be shown to be a series of trigonometric “sine” waves. Harmonies become mathematical ratios which can occur in everything from the Harmony of the Spheres to separate instruments or voices combining the soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and base notes; all meshing coherently and feeling divinely aligned.
Every musical pulse consists of numerous sine-wave tones. Even a “square wave” is made up of a large number of odd harmonics, and thus by extrapolation, a truly infinite pulse (e.g. the Big Bang or first Ommmmm... of creation) would consist of all possible pure tones. The manner in which musicians examine a spectrum of musical harmonies is, in fact, exactly the same procedure mathematicians call a Fourier Transform. The sum of all musical frequencies thus constitutes the whole of the universe.
Many creation myths (including the one we are most familiar with from the Hebrew bible) state unequivocally that Spirit (God) created the manifested (wave-form) universes out of Nothingness (also known as the Great Void). By what process does formless and eternal Spirit create the myriad, changeful forms that we experience as manifested Creation?
According to Sacred Geometry, Spirit "moved" or "projected itself" in certain very simple geometric patterns based on the sphere. From these "movements", certain geometric relationships were established that served as the "template" from which all forms, all dynamics, all processes, all mathematical relationship, even consciousness itself could be "derived". We are forced here to use concepts (words) for a mysterious and ultimately ineffable process that cannot be fully captured by our conceptions; nevertheless, the left-brain knowing (words) combined with the right-brain knowing (the images themselves) can enable us to understand, in a profound way, this process.
Sacred Geometry can be practiced as a science through which we learn to "see" how the manifested universe reflects patterns which are "hidden" within the initial geometry of creation, much as a child creates the image "hidden" in a series of numbered dots by connecting them with a pencil. Through studying the initial creation geometries, we can find ALL of the relationship upon which nature and consciousness are based.
"Sacred Geometry is the morphogenic structure behind reality, the emblem of reality throughout the cosmos, underlying even mathematics. Most physicists and mathematicians feel that numbers are the prime language of reality, but it is shape that generates all the laws of physics. It is sometimes called the "language of light" and sometimes the "language of silence". Sacred geometry is a language, a language through which everything was created. The nature of sacred geometry is that it is absolutely flawless, there are no accidents. It continues to unfold until the entire universe is created. Every single part of it is interlinked with everything else. You can start at any point and generate the whole language of creation." - Drunvalo Melchizedek
A mandala is a visual symbol often utilized in meditation practices and teachings. The mandala symbol itself is a geometric construction of points, lines, planes and solids which symbolizes our universe. These geometric symbols can be used as a visual meditation tool, called a yantra. Other designs can similarly be used as meditation tools, but may not be mandalas by definition. Mandalas and all other yantras work as visual meditation points of concentration. Pictured (top) is the sri yantra: sri meaning ‘king’ or ‘most important’. Ancient yogis of India and Tibet considered it to be the most powerful of all geometric symbols, representing the geometric structure of the sound of creation — the Om. The word Mandala derives from the Hindu language meaning 'concentric energy circle.' A circle represents protection, good luck, or completion. Mandalas link with the spiraling movement of consciousness, sacred geometry, psychology, and healing. It is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. The basic form of most mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point, though one can also create one from a circle and divide it into 4 parts. Each gate is in the general shape of a T. Mandalas often exhibit radial balance. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as spiritual teaching tools, for establishing a sacred space, and as aids to meditation and trance induction. In practice, the term 'Mandala' has become a generic term for any plan, chart, or geometric pattern which represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective. A mandala, especially its center, can be used during meditation as an object for focusing attention. The symmetrical geometric shapes which mandalas tend to have, draw the attention of the eyes towards their center. In Hindu cosmology the surface of the Earth is represented as a square, the most fundamental of all Hindu forms. The earth is represented as four cornered with reference to the horizon's relationship with sunrise and sunset, the north and south direction. The Earth is thus called 'Caturbhrsti (four-cornered)' and is represented in the symbolic form of the Prithvi Mandala. The astrological charts or horoscopes (Rasi, Navamsa, etc) also represent in a square plan the ecliptic - the positions of the sun, moon, planets, and zodiacal constellations with reference to the native's place and time of birth. The Vaastu Purusha Mandala is the metaphysical plan of a building, temple, or site that incorporates the course of the heavenly bodies and supernatural forces. The square is the box. We experience 'inside the box. 4 goes to 4th dimension or time. We experience through the spiraling patterns of sacred geometry in the alchemy of time moving away from the central source, and then returning.
My intention is to create, master, become ONE with and share these mandalas with the world as maps for not only the stars but for the soul as well. As Above, So Below... To Know thyself is the essential key here. Through becoming ONE with the geometry and aligning my body, mind and heart with these divine proportions...my soul is set free to breathe and remember who WE all truly are. We are the Light, Spiritual beings having a human experience. These mandalas are my heART driven offering to this realm to help activate the Light within YOU and serve as numinous portals into higher perceptions of consciousness through sacred geometric combinations of light, number, vibration & color!
So Mote It Be!
